Ontario’s top doctor, Dr. Kieran Moore, told reporters yesterday during his weekly pandemic update, all COVID-19 measures are up for review.
Dr. Moore says the wave of Omicron cases has peaked and it’s time to resume other activities.
He says he will make recommendations to government as early as next week about possibly speeding up the reopening plan for businesses
Moore says he’s also looking at timelines for ending mask rules and the province’s proof-of-vaccination system, which don’t currently have set end dates.
Health Minister Christine Elliot says the province will begin a cautious resumption of non-urgent surgeries and procedures due to a steady decline in COVID-19-related hospitalizations.
She says the resumption of medical will follow a planned, phased approach across the province.
Elliot has also announced that high contact sports, choir and other extracurricular activities in schools, can resume immediately. But she says students will still be required to wear a mask while on school property.
