Local elective surgeries have been cancelled for the rest of the week at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital site due to staffing shortages.
That’s Perth Mayor John Fenik breaking the news to his council last night.
The hospital says every effort will be made to bring all services back online by next week, and to rebook any cancelled procedures as soon as possible.
Elective surgical cases are expected to resume next Tuesday, the 22nd. They are asking for patience as waiting times for the procedures may be longer.
They also note that the hospital’s Emergency Departments remain open at both sites.
The hospital says their operating room staff will be redeployed to other units to ensure they can continue to provide appropriate care for admitted patients.
Anyone affected by the cancellations has been contacted.
