Ice users in our listening area should take note: the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority says with yesterday’ warm temperatures and rain, ice conditions likely have become unstable.
They say runoff amounts may result in higher water levels in area creeks and streams and along roadside ditches.
The authority says ice conditions can change drastically due to increased flows and rising temperatures.
If you do head out make sure an experienced person in your party checks conditions first to make sure they are safe and carry the necessary safety equipment in case someone falls through.
The safest plan is to just avoid the ice altogether.
