Parents and guardians of students who wish to continue to learn from home next year will have that option.
The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario and Upper Canada District School Board will be required to offer the option after an announcement from the province’s education minister.
Minister Stephen Lecce says the ministry wants to offer parents that choice for one more year given the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lecce says the province is making investments to ensure in-person learning is safe for those who do go back, which is expected to be a vast majority of students in Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville and across the province.
The Ministry of Education also announced funding of 175-million dollars for tutoring programs to address impacts of the pandemic on students.
