Family members anxious to see residents of long-term care homes welcomed the yesterday’s latest round of eased restrictions at the homes.
Fully vaccinated people aged five and older in Ontario, can now visit their loved ones at local long-term care homes.
Residents with three doses can now make overnight trips too.
The number of visitors allowed at a time has increased from two to three and all residents are also able to resume social day trips regardless of their vaccination status.
Further measures will be eased on March 14th.
Then, all residents will be able to make overnight trips regardless of their vaccine status and children under five will be allowed to visit. The number of visitors will also increase from three to four.
Strict restrictions, including a pause on access to long-term care facilities for general visitors, took effect in late December as a response to a COVID-19 surge cause by the Omicron variant.
