Carleton Place has partnered with Food Cycle Science to purchase and distribute 100 of their counter-top food waste processors.
The cost to households was $150.00 per unit – the online application list filled up in less than three hours once it went public.
As part of the program, participants will fill out a usage survey over 12 weeks.
Councillor Jeff Aitkinson says it could be a big move for the town, and environment.
He added he hoped the next council will continue the program if successful.
