In Perth this weekend in front of town-hall, a group of residents protested the federal government’s failure to live up to a 2019 campaign promise to create a Ministry of Just Transition to support workers in succeeding in a new green economy.
The main theme of the various speakers at the demonstration was that climate change has reached critical stages and actions to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels are immediately needed.
Simultaneous events were held in almost 50 other communities across the country.
Local student Bridget MacKenzie pointed out, smaller communities don’t have equal voices in this issue.
Among others in attendance was Perth Mayor John Fenik.
