Smiths Falls council heard from RC Strategies this week the group tasked to develop the town’s first ever Parks and Recreation master plan.
Michael Cleland told council it took 9 months to develop and breaks down to some main principles: Growing participation, and the renewal and diversification of parklands, outdoor, and indoor facilities.
Cleland says the current parks available in the township suffices, but if community growth continues, so will the need for more options.
Cleland says based off the near 500 surveys there was one clear message.
The plan, which was accepted for information but not adopted, suggests a feasibility study be conducted to explore that idea.
We will have some council reaction Thursday.
