The OPP have arrested a pair of suspects after what they’re calling a crime spree.
On Monday, a commercial vehicle was stolen from a business in Carleton Place, then three businesses in Elgin, Portland and Westport reported break-ins and thefts, believed to be linked to that stolen vehicle.
Leeds OPP, Lanark OPP, Smiths Falls Police Service and Canada Post Postal Inspectors worked together on the investigation.
A search warrant was executed on Lombard Street in Smiths Falls and 35-year-old Amanda Billings and 32-year-old Lucas Young, of Smiths Falls were arrested and face charges of:
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Criminal Code (CC) 354(1)(a)
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, CC 354(1)(a)
Both have future court dates.
An arrest warrant has also been issued for 23-year-old Darren Westlake of Carleton Place on vehicle theft charges, among others.
