Minister of Rural Affairs and Housing Steve Clark says the “More Homes for Everyone” plan introduced last week to increase housing supply needs the support of municipalities for it to work.
He tells Lake 88 that addressing housing shortages isn’t going to be an easy task.
Clark, who is also the MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, says the “More Homes for Everyone Bill” builds on previously announced policies, and when it comes to new housing starts, Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville has already seen a significant increase.
The Minister says options like multi-generational communities could make a big difference long-term.
The MPP also told Lake 88 municipal cooperation is a must to make it happen.
Later this month, Lake 88’s In Focus will be hosting a series of local guests talking about the affordable housing issue ahead of the June provincial election.
