PEP Seniors Therapeutic Centre has launched a pilot project to formally recognize caregivers and the role they play in their loved ones’ health.
PEP Executive Director Suzanne Rintoul tells Lake 88 how Caregiver ID, as its known, will work.
That badge would be recognized as official ID for caregivers heading to support loved ones in settings like long-term care facilities or hospitals.
It’s hoped it would be officially recognized by those settings.
Rintoul says the pandemic brought unintended harm when caregivers were prevented from being a part of the caregiving process. The ID would allow them into the room, under most circumstances, as it would recognize them as essential.
