Spring has arrived and residents are anxious to begin their outdoor clean up.
But our local fire departments remind us that caution must be taken when burning, as grass fires can spring up quickly.
They ask that you avoid burning on windy days and in dry grassy areas. They note that dormant vegetation and grass that hasn’t had time to green up yet creates a perfect fuel source for fire to travel rapidly.
Also, remember that burning restrictions such as all out burn bans may be implemented at anytime depending on conditions.
And don’t forget to check with your local fire department for your local fire ban status, burn permit information, and any other burning regulations well before you get started.
