Perth Deputy Mayor Ed McPherson passed along some information on reducing speeding on town streets to council last night.
McPherson attended a variety of seminars and plenary sessions at the recent Ontario Good Roads Conference. One theme that caught his attention was narrowing urban streets to reduce speeding.
In summary, the problem is streets are built too wide in urban settings. They need to be narrower with signage in the middle of the roads and well marked lines following the European models which work to reduce speed in built-up areas.
