The province announced $200,000 for Rideau Community Health Services late last week to help in the planning stages of their proposed health hub in Smiths Falls.
Michelle Bellows, Rideau Community Health Services CEO, tells Lake 88 the money will support the continued development of the integrated health and social services hub.
The CEO says the money provides the foundation for all planning work moving forward.
Eventually the plan will be sent back to the province and the decision will be made on whether construction will proceed.
Bellows says it’s a great opportunity for the community to come together.
Rideau Community Health Services hopes to build a new 25,000 – 35,000 square foot space.
They’re now working on finding a spot to put it in Smiths Falls, a central location for the people they serve.
If all goes according to plan, they could be in a new facility within four years.
