The Local Immigration Partnership (or LIP) of Lanark & Renfrew’s partnership with Ukrainian Diaspora Support Canada (or UADSC) has been a big success, and is making life easier in Canada for newly arrived people fleeing the war.
LIP Manager Jodi Bucholtz tells Lake 88 helping the Carleton Place based group made sense right away.
LIP recently launched a portal with vital information for newcomers to our country. Bucholtz says seeing user numbers rise helped decide to make the move to join forces.
While UADSC focuses on things like Visa applications, and matching displaced Ukrainians with their future communities, the immigration partnership is working to grow the network of volunteers. That’s where you come in.
The group is looking for hosts families, those willing to help fundraise, interpreters, people to drive to appointments, and they’re even looking for donation hubs to store things before the families arrive.
Bucholtz says the site has a lot to offer.
