Heading out on the Canal this weekend? Watch out for fast moving water

Parks Canada says recent rain has them anticipating potentially dangerous water flows and fast-moving currents throughout much of the Rideau and Cataraqui Watersheds.

They have been moving water through the system to get it ready for today’s opening.

However, the public is advised to exercise caution on or along the waterway and to avoid water control structures such as dams, spillways and locks.
