It was a brief first meeting of the month for Smiths Falls Council Monday night. With no discussion items on hand and no committee of the whole, the horseshow quickly made its way through the six-item agenda.
Included on that agenda was the town officially supporting the Pride crosswalks coming to Church Street at Beckwith Street North.
Additionally, Smiths Falls entered an agreement with Rideau Lakes regarding road maintenance and development on the far west of Broadview Avenue. The bordering road has seen split duties for the two sides for decades on a gentleman’s agreement, but there’s now an official agreement in place.
Council also approved the flying of the Shriners Flag in celebration of their 150th Anniversary and Shriner International Awareness Day. That’ll be at the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre due to the ongoing Beckwith Street construction.
Council also received their annual Building Permit Statistics and Building Report highlighting 2021 development in Smiths Falls.
