Developers like the town: Building permit numbers show health growth for Smiths Falls

This week’s council meeting in Smiths Falls saw the 2021 Building Permit Statistics and Annual Building Report presented.

Councillor Wendy Alford said the figures represent the trust developers have in the region.

In all, 131 permits were issued in 2021, with 33 new builds and 90 apartments.

The Building Code Act requires the annual report to make public the costs and revenue of building services.

In 2021, building permit revenue was shy of $330,000 and about $18,000 more than the associated costs.
