If it’s not one thing, it’s another when it comes to refitting heating and hot water systems to three social housing units in Lanark County.
The initial request for proposal went out April 11th but council voted to pause it two weeks later following concerns from a local environment group.
After narrowly voting to resume the original RFP in May due to cost concerns, council learned Wednesday they received no bids.
Director of Social Services Emily Hollington asked 9 contractors who attended a site meeting why that was the case.
They intend to retender the project for a third time next year, but now face the task of spending $270,000 in federal and provincial funds allocated for that project before years’ end or they lose it.
Hollington says they’re being forced to pivot on that account.
Council also decided to consult newly appointed Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston MPP John Jordan on the matter.
