There are a lot of mosquitos this year as breeding conditions in our listening area have been pretty much ideal.
The health unit reminds us that also means there’s an increased risk of West Nile Virus. They point out that it is more common in urban areas, because the type of mosquitos that carries it the most likes those environments. But it has been present in our area in the past.
Senior Public Health Inspector Kim McCann tells Lake 88 that if you get bitten a lot by mosquitos, watch how you’re felling afterwards closely.
If you’re showing those, call your primary health care provider.
Make sure before heading out that you have a good repellant on and wear light coloured clothing.
