Canadian Blood Services in critical need of donations: Here’s how you can help

Canadian Blood Services says it’s dealing with its lowest donor base in more than a decade.

There are a few opportunities for you to donate locally to help the organization deals with what they are calling a critically low supply of blood.

The first is a week from today at the Legion in Smiths Falls – that’s Monday, June 20^th. A week after that, they’ll be set up in Perth at the Civitan Club.

Donors in Carleton Place can either book at one of those sites or wait until July 22^nd for a clinic in town at the arena.

Canadian Blood Services Spokesperson Rick Prinzen says the number of people who donate regularly has dropped by 31-thousand since the pandemic began.

This is also a slow time of year for donations as Canadians leave on vacations and cancel appointments.
