June is National Indigenous History Month and our health unit continues its role helping people dealing with trauma from recent discoveries of remains found at former Residential School Sites.
Health Unit Promoter Rebecca Shams says it’s a time to make changes, and notes a special helpline has been set up.
You can call the Helpline at 1-855-242-3310.
Shams adds that this service is also available through an online chat service.
Shams also says prior to COVID, an internal committee was established to build better relationships with local Indigenous communities.
