Five residential units which are proposed to be ‘affordable,’ are coming to 188 Chambers Street in Smiths Falls.
While still early in the process, staff got the go ahead from council to rezone the property to accommodate residential units.
Councillor Jay Brennan is on board.
The concerns he referenced came during a public meeting where some residents questioned possible safety, traffic, and road access concerns.
Mayor Shawn Pankow said one-bedroom units are in high demand as proven through the 2021 Lanark County Homelessness Report.
Pending site plan approval, the building would have accessible four one-bedroom units, a bachelor unit, and seven parking spaces.
