At a special daytime meeting of Perth Council’s committee of the whole on Tuesday, a motion was passed to remove the long sought-after arterial road project from the town’s strategic plan.
The arterial road removal was part of a packaged motion to accept the town’s new asset management plan and to review capital borrowing to offset inflationary cost increases.
The items were split and the motion on the arterial deletion passed. It must now go to the next full council meeting for final approval.
Staff reported that an entrance off highway 7 would proceed as planned but only to service the Perthmore development and not as an arterial roadway.
