Lanark County entered a new Fire Dispatch Communications Centre agreement with the Town of Smiths Falls Wednesday.
The five-year deal will see the county pay Smiths Falls $113,500 annually to provide the service, but they can withdraw with a 30-day notice if a breach has occurred.
The centre is required to hit certain quota’s such as have services dispatched within 60 seconds for 95% of the calls they receive.
In addition, 95% of the alarm calls should be answered within 15 seconds and 40 seconds for 99% of them.
The extension begins on Canada Day.
