Carleton Place played host to a special visitor on Saturday as Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor, Elizabeth Dowdeswell participated in a tree planting at St. James Park.
Even though the vice-regal’s tree planting was to honour the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II, Dowdeswell applied a more personal meaning to the day.
She remarked that is was an appropriate occasion to recognize and thank those who came together to provide support and service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She also said she found it encouraging that a great many Ontarians she’s met, fondly remember seeing the Queen or a member of the Royal Family during one of their many visits to our province.
