The deadline to file nomination papers for the Municipal election is still a ways away, and that may be a good thing if we’re looking for some choices, because there aren’t many options for Mayor in our biggest centres just yet.
So far in Perth, Judy Brown is the only candidate to file nomination papers. Current Mayor John Fenik has announced he will seek re-election.
No one has officially thrown their hat in the ring for Mayor in Smiths falls as of yet.
In Carleton Place, it’s a different story where current Mayor Doug Black has filed. So have two challengers, Andreas Foustanellas, and Edward (Toby) Randall.
There’s still plenty of time for candidates to file. The deadline is August 19th by 2pm. Same goes for Councillors.
Election Day is October 24th.
