Smiths Falls Police say they have seen a spike in overdose related incidents in recent days.
One Thursday afternoon saw officers use naloxone to revive a woman.
Anyone with someone using drugs should watch for signs of an overdose, and if it happens, call 9-1-1 right away.
Remember, you can’t be charged for reporting an overdose even if you’ve been using.
The Health Unit is reminding users to:
– Never use alone
– Call 911 in the event of an overdose
– Carry a naloxone kit (you can get them from the health unit for free); and
– Use small amounts of substances, and never mix.
The health unit can also help in other ways, like by getting users in contact with services to help them stop. Just call 1-800-660-5853 to get help for yourself, or to get information for someone you know.
