Mary Wilson Trider, President and CEO of the hospitals in Carleton Place and Almonte can certainly understand closure of the Emergency Department in Perth.
The President and CEO says under certain circumstances, a closure could happen at her hospitals too.
Wilson-Trider also says they have seen increased volume at their ERs since the one in Perth closed, but they have handled it.
Emergency Departments have closed in communities across the province. Some other hospitals have had to curb services as they deal with the staffing crunch.
ER officials from across the country are pleading their case to the provinces and federal governments for both a short-term and long-term fix to the problem.
Local officials are also asking those using the emergency departments that are still open to be respectful of staff, after some cases of belligerent patients taking out frustrations on workers.
