Smiths Falls’ Brooke Henderson was feeling confident heading in to the Amundi Evian Championship in France, the latest Major on the LPGA calendar, and it showed.
Brooke had a stellar first round ending her day alone in first place despite a late surge from American Cheyenne Knight. Once everyone came in, Brooke was tied for 2nd spot at 7 under, just one off the pace.
Brooke shot an outstanding 64 in a round that featured six birdies, an eagle and one bogey.
After bogeying her 17th hole (which was number 8 as she started on the back nine) Brooke came back to Eagle the par 5 9th hole to end the round on a confidence building high note ahead of Friday’s second round.
