Carebridge Community Support offered an update on the new affordable housing project that will see 30 units built at 44 Chambers Street in Smiths Falls.
Carebridge CEO Robert Eves tells Lake 88 they are truly affordable units thanks to a partnership with the county.
Eves says they’ve got the $9 million price tag figured out, thanks in part to a generous donation from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church.
There are two additional units in the building now instead of the originally planned 28, thanks to a deal that will move parking out of the ground floor and over to an adjacent lot.
That also means there’s space for another community-use tenant on the ground floor. An announcement of who that is and what they’ll offer is expected soon.
