The town of Smiths Falls has opted in to the provincial and federal Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care system, widely known as the $10 a day childcare program.
Councilor Peter McKenna says programs like this are crucial.
Parents will now be eligible for rebates dating back to April 1st, as the program continues its phasing-in process until 2025.
Councilor Wendy Alford says so much of parents’ lives are dictated by if they can secure childcare for their family.
CAO Malcom Morris noted Lanark County is working towards expanding space for childcare programs, as there’s a waiting list for virtually every program county-wide.
