The Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is getting the word out about animal bites and scratches, and how to prevent them.
The health unit’s Teresa Clow says they’ve seen an increase in pet ownership, as a sign of the times.
Clow says they’re trying to prevent animal bites and scratches.
If you own a pet, remember you are responsible for their actions. If you have them out and about makes sure they’re on a leash and don’t let strangers pet them. And try to keep them out of stressful situations where they could lash out.
Clow also notes that kids can be bitten when they’re left alone with an animal and do something like pull on them or hug them too hard.
If you’re bitten or scratched, call your doctor.
