Hockey fans in Westport can look forward to a season of watching the Rideaus – as the town and team have finalized plans.
As we told you last week, the Junior B Westport Rideaus that hit the ice last season will be playing in Smiths Falls this year.
But the new Junior C team will take the ice at the WTC Centre in the village of Westport, retaining the same look we’ve grown accustomed to.
“Westport is a hockey town. For many years and generations, community members have played for the Rideaus”, says Robin Jones, Mayor of the Village of Westport. “Families and friends have cheered for our home town team. I am looking forward to spending time again this fall with Rideau fans and families at the WTC Communications Centre.”
Smiths Falls Bears ownership decided recently to move the Junior B squad to Smiths Falls, where their Affiliated Junior A team plays, while it was just a few weeks ago that Westport announced it had acquired the Junior C Team.
We expect to get the full schedules for both leagues soon.
