Social Housing; Perth Councillor talks about support for landlords of rent-geared-to-income units

Social housing was again a topic at this week’s Council meeting in Perth.

Councillor Brock McPherson spoke on a new Lanark County proposal to support landlords participating in rent geared to income housing, and he said it comes at a good time.

McPherson supports a proposal under County-consideration that would support landlords in the rent-geared-to-income program with a new fund for extraordinary repairs needed to keep their units in good condition.

Look for affordable housing, and affordability in general, to be major issues this fall during the municipal election campaign.
