Staff in Carleton Place raised the ‘Every Child Matters’ flag in Sinclair Square for the month of September in recognition of the upcoming National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th.
Orange Shirt Day is also on the 30th. It is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family, and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”.
Look for communities across our listening area to host similar tributes, and mark both days at the end of the month.
