Don’t worry if you see fire hydrants with water shooting out of them in Smiths Falls for the next few weeks, it’s just Public Works carrying out their hydrant flushing program.
It will continue until the end of next month.
They’ll be doing it between 7:30 in the morning, until 4.
When it happens around you, you may notice some discolouration of your water of lower pressure.
Don’t worry, it’s safe to drink. You may want to check the taps as the water comes out, and if you plan to wash light clothes.
The Town says the work is necessary to maintain their water supply.
