The town of Smiths Falls continues to get greener and the latest report surrounding their environmental efforts says they’re on the right track.
The first report of the Partners for Climate Protection Program states the town has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 3.61% since 2017 and reduced energy consumption by 13.2%.
Town CAO Malcom Morris says they’re generally happy with the results to date, but it is a work in progress.
Morris provided some examples of some measures they’ve taken.
The town will now form a Climate Protection Working Group to be tasked with developing recommendations for council consideration related to greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
