The province says about 22-thousand doses of the Omicron-targeted COVID-19 vaccine have been administered since becoming available on Monday.
Ontario’s top doctor, Dr. Kieran Moore says only 20-thousand out of a potential 80-thousand appointments have been booked for the next two weeks.
Our Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li says the new vaccine targets the latest strain.
Ontarians aged 70 and older, long-term care residents, health-care workers, Indigenous people and their adult household members, immunocompromised people 12 and older and pregnant people are eligible for the shot now.
It’s a Moderna offering and Dr. Li says the new vaccine is very similar to the original.
The rest of us, 18 and up, can book now for appointments for September 26th and beyond.
