As parents across the county wait to hear if and when county-associated daycare fees will be going down, we do know that one cost associated with the centres in Carleton Place won’t be going up, for at least a year.
Council passed a motion to delay busing fee increases of $25 for the town’s daycare facilities until next September.
The costs were expected to increase due to inflation.
But Manager Tracy Freill thought it would be too much for some parents right now, with the state of affordability. An increase could actually lead to enrolment declining.
She’s also asking for support to lobby STEO, the local bus provider to permit additional stops for children in daycare as another way to help parents.
