ALUS Lanark opened its chapter in January, and Lanark County has provided a review of its first year in operation.
Alternative Land Use Services is a group which helps farmers and ranchers construct and sustain nature-based solutions to enhance their agricultural ecosystem.
Climate Environmental Coordinator Michelle Vala said there are three ongoing ALUS projects for local farmers in 2022.
The county hopes to spread the word about it heading into 2023, but in a tactful manner.
Councillor Richard Kidd wants to ensure people know this isn’t a government-ran program.
To apply, reach out to your ALUS coordinator.
