The OPP in Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville will be taking part in Operation Impact this long weekend, a five-day traffic safety blitz targeting high-risk driving behaviours.
The campaign begins today and runs through Thanksgiving, one of the heaviest weekends for traffic volume in Ontario.
Officers will be targeting impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and seatbelt use – the big four causes of fatalities on our roads.
As of the end of September, there had been 268 fatalities on OPP-patrolled roads so far this year, a 24 per cent increase over the same time last year.
