So far, Perth is leading the way in voter turnout.
21.3% of eligible voters have cast ballots over the phone or online in the town. In Smiths Falls the number is 19.4%, and in Carelton Place it’s 17.2%. (All these numbers are as of yesterday afternoon.)
Acclaimed Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry is urging everyone to vote, and to get to know who you’re voting for.
She suggests looking them up online, and even reaching out to individual candidates if you have questions.
Beckwith Reeve Richard Kidd has been acclaimed for another term in office. Every other position in his community is being contested though. He says its important that when you do cast your vote, you do it responsibly.
Help for the phone and online voting systems in use in most communities is available for anyone needing it. Just contact your town hall for more.
