Lanark County council will consult with the public before seeking design proposals for a new Blakeney bridge.
The Mississippi Mills bridge is in disrepair due to the passage of time.
In a report from Public Works manager Sean Derouin Wednesday night, council heard about the failing conditions of the long-standing bridge, which Derouin highlighted.
The county’s also looking at reducing the load posting for the bridge from 12 to 5 tonnes but staff will look for ways to prevent a sizeable reduction.
If council were to replace this bridge with an exact replica it would cost about $2.5 million and would be prioritized over Pakenham’s five arches bridge as the work there could be safely pushed into 2024.
