Kids all across Lanark, Leeds and Grenville are getting their costumes ready and dreaming about all the candy they ‘ll be getting tonight for Halloween.
That has the OPP wants the nigh to be all about fun, so they’re reminding us to make safety a priority.
That was Constable Ed Sanchuk.
For older kids heading out, Sanchuk suggests bringing a cell phone with you and talking to your parents about the planned route you are going on and what time they can expect you back home.
He says for parents, you have a job or two to do tonight as well.
For those staying at home, you have a few tasks tonight.
Make sure your yard is clean so no one trips, if you are using real candles for decorations make sure they are far away from those long flowing costumes that trick or treaters may have, and if you have a pup at home – tonight may be a good night to have them stay in another room away from the front door.
Lastly, no everyone will be trick or treating or staying home tonight, so if you have to drive somewhere – just assume kids will be around.
In short, police just want to make sure everyone has a safe and fun night out and if there are any concerns do not hesitate to contact the authorities.
