Lanark County Warden John Fenik is seen in this file photo
Outgoing Lanark County warden and Perth Mayor John Fenik had a request for the public during the final meetings of the sitting county council Wednesday night.
It’s one most of us have heard time and time again: take every precaution you can against COVID-19, because the pandemic isn’t over simply because people are tired of hearing about it.
With COVID-19 seeing another surge in the region, Fenik says long-term care homes need a hand in dealing with it, and that in some cases means a break.
Fenik says if the intake of residents continues while COVID and staff shortages maintain their status quo, it could lead to a dangerous environment for residents and workers alike, and maybe a solution can be found by working with Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston MPP John Jordan and the county’s Director of Long-Term Care Carey Duncan.
CAO Kurt Greaves said Fenik and Duncan recently met with Jordan to discuss various concerns they have surrounding long-term care homes. Fenik says he’s been “engaged,” with Lanark County and “upfront and honest,” when it comes to issues brought to him, and good to work with.
