A search and rescue operation in Mississippi Mills was launched after a hunter didn’t return home when he was supposed to.
Lanark County OPP reported they were successful in finding the missing man.
The call came in around 6:30 last Friday after the 78-year-old experienced hunter didn’t show up on time. He had let family know where he’d be.
That information was vital according to the OPP. He was found after spending about 20 hours in the elements. Thankfully he wasn’t hurt.
The OPP brought in several units, including their police dogs and air support.
Police say the case serves as a reminder that even the most experienced hunters can need help. Make sure you let someone know where you’re going and when you’ll be back, and bring extra supplies in case something does happen and you have to spend the night in the bush.
