The new Perth Town Council is taking a look at a fire suppressing residential sprinkler policy.
Fire Chief Trevor Choffe proposes the town adopt a 5-year pilot program to permit fire sprinkler systems in new small residential builds.
He noted that the speed of fires in newer homes was a real concern.
He added, having a sprinkler system is like having a firefighter living in your home full-time.
The committee approved the proposal which will now be sent to council for ratification.
