CUPE says it has reached a deal with the provincial government, averting a strike that had been planned for Monday.
The Union’s 55,000 education workers will be in schools working on Monday. That means students will be in schools across the province.
That includes in the Upper Canada District School Board and Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario. Both had promised to go to remote learning had a deal not been reached. Parents don’t have to worry about that now.
No details of the deal, which still has to be ratified by union members, have been released as of publication time. Its expected a vote on the agreement will begin by members on Thursday.
The deal comes after a weekend of intense negotiations between the province and the union.
