Smiths Falls council opted for experience when it came to appointing their council representative to sit next to the mayor as members of Lanark County’s Corporate and Community Services committees.
Peter McKenna was voted in, after serving in the same role last term.
Councillors Dawn Quinn and Stephen Robinson also put their names forth for the roles, although Robinson quickly withdrew and backed McKenna.
Councillor Jennifer Miller says McKenna’s experience is what they can lean on.
Mayor Shawn Pankow said the respect McKenna has garnered around the county over the last term only makes their voice stronger.
Continuity was also a point of discussion, with over half of county council not returning, having McKenna return was widely seen as a benefit.
